Boys' Varsity Head Coach

Coach Wren is in his 3rd year of coaching at Eastside High School.  Prior to joining the Eastside program, Coach Wren was successful as the head boys' basketball coach at Liberty Middle School in Newton County. 

Coach Wren is an educator originally from Westbury, New York.  He attended Armstrong State College (known now as Armstrong State University) where he played basketball during the 95-96 season.  Coach Wren has been committed to the improvement of basketball fundamentals in Newton County youth.  He has directed a community-based Scholar Shots basketball camp at the middle school level for the past 5 years.  He partnered with the Gilstrap Way program in providing a two day fundamentals camp for players 8-18 years old at Eastside High School.  These endeavors and opportunities have assisted in the fundamental development of many Newton county basketball players.

Coach Wren’s basketball philosophy is rooted in fundamental development of skills (offensive and defensive), understanding and commitment to a team concept, respect, and discipline.

Dwayne Ward

Coach Ward is entering his 1st year of coaching at Eastside High School, where he will assume the role of community coach.  As a former high school athlete, he was captain of the varsity boys' basketball team his junior and senior year at Malverne High School in Long Island, NY.  Basketball has played an integral role in his upbringing; and as a result, he has always desired to give back to the sport and coach high school boys' basketball.  

Coach Ward brings a championship pedigree to Eastside High School and looks forward to being a part of the growth and success of the program.

Jerrick Henderson
Boys' Freshman Head Coach/ Asst. Varsity Coach

Coach Henderson is in his 1st year of coaching at Eastside High School.  Coach Henderson began his collegiate basketball career at Southern Union State Community College in Wadley, Alabama where he played basketball from 2012-2014.  Following that, he attended and played basketball at Oklahoma Baptist University during the 2014-2015 season, graduating from the college in December 2016.
